I built the tool
I wanted as a tutor

I've spent more than ten years teaching English and years running my own online teaching business. I built Classly because I knew exactly where tutors were losing their time, because I was losing mine there too.

Background

I'm Daniel Einon, the founder and developer of Classly.

I've worked in English language education for more than ten years, including five years in China, where I was Head of English at a school in Wuhan. I later moved into online teaching and built my own tutoring business after spending a number of years working on marketplaces.

Alongside teaching, I have a background in software development, having studied Computer Games Development at university. That combination of teaching experience and technical experience is what eventually led to Classly.

Where Classly came from

Classly started with problems I was dealing with in my own teaching.

Too much time around each lesson was being spent making notes, pulling out vocabulary and corrections, creating homework, tracking progress and keeping everything organised for students.

There were plenty of tools that could help with one part of that process, but those tools are scattered and very few look at the whole workflow. I wanted to take what happened in a lesson and handle what came before and after it all in one place.

Building Classly

I started building Classly to bring the whole teaching workflow into one place.

Eli is the AI behind Classly. It can take a lesson transcript or teaching materials and turn what happened in the lesson into instant lesson notes, personalised follow-up work and a clear record of each student's progress.

The goal has stayed simple: reduce the work tutors have to do around teaching, without reducing what they can give their students.

Building it with tutors

One of the most useful parts of building Classly has been seeing how other tutors use it with their own students.

A lot of what Classly has become has come directly from those conversations: what saves time, what gets in the way, what tutors wish worked differently, and what they keep finding useful week after week.

I still use Classly in my own teaching, so I'm working with the same problems and workflows I'm trying to improve.

In one month alone, Classly saved me 28 hours of work around teaching.

That combination of using it myself and hearing directly from other tutors still guides what I build next.

Classly today

I still design and develop Classly myself, while working directly with the tutors who use it.

The focus is simple: make the day-to-day work around teaching easier, with less admin, better organisation and more time for the parts of teaching that actually need a person.

What tutors say about Classly

I tried the demo and it worked really well, so I signed up right away. The platform is very practical and friendly for both teachers and students.

A few of my students asked me to thank you for your hard work. They love the platform, and so do I. I do not see how a tutor would not want to use Classly Eli.

Come and say hello

Book a call and bring a lesson you have already taught. Worst case, you get half an hour of talking shop with another tutor.
